Several Bible passages emphasize a Christian’s preeminent commitment to love-not merely a sentimental, warm feeling, but a choice of the will to put other people’s welfare ahead of one’s own by showing respect, considering their feelings, and praying on their behalf. SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY (1 JOHN 3:1-6) LIVING AS CHILDREN OF GOD

bible_0_0

  1. Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
  2. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

HOW CAN ISAIAH SAY HE SAW THE LORD, WHEN MANY SCRIPTURES DECLARE THAT NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN GOD?

Thinking things over

Isaiah 6 records the prophet’s vision of God, “I saw the Lord.” Yet Exodus 33:20; John 1:18; and 1 John 4:12 state that no one has ever seen God. Continue reading HOW CAN ISAIAH SAY HE SAW THE LORD, WHEN MANY SCRIPTURES DECLARE THAT NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN GOD?

SIGNS & SYMBOLS OF THE BIBLE (BEAST)

beauty_and_the_beast_5_-_dan_stevens_-_still_-_h_-_2016_1

In a few places in the Bibles, the term beast is used in its modern descriptive sense of la menacing or mindless animal whose behavior is somewhat unpredictable. Jacob compared his son Issachar to a donkey or beast of burden (Gen 49:14), creating a picture of capacity and stubbornness as strong traits in his ninth born. Many biblical monsters seem to be mythical, or at least are symbolic of threats of God’s order and authority in the world. But unlike the monstrous beasts of surrounding cultures and religions, God retains power over all the beasts and chaos in the world, and will ultimately defeat them. GOD LOVES THE WORLD, & WE ARE TO IMITATE GOD. THEN WE ARE TOLD NOT TO LOVE THE WORLD. WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN

john3_16

Christians should love the world of people and be concerned for their eternal welfare (John 3:16). This means to have compassionate heart. The command not to love the world in 1 John 2:15 has to do with the world of sin, the universal system organized by Satan against God and His rule. We must never become attached and devoted to the ways of the world. This is what is meant by worldliness.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY 1JOHN 2:1-6 (LOVE GOD, NOT THIS WORLD)

love-god

My little children, I am telling you this so that you will stay away from sin, But if you sin, there is someone to plead for you before the Father, His name is Jesus Christ, the one who is all that is good and who pleases God completely. He is the one who took God’s wrath against our sins upon himself and brought us into fellowship with God’ and he is the forgiveness for our sins, and not only ours but all the world’s. And how can we be sure that we belong to him. By looking within ourselves: are we
