ACCESSING OUR INTRERNAL MEMORY BANK

I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11

Before there were banks or credit unions there were coffee cans and piggy banks. People  would place coins and dollars inside and make a withdrawal when their need was the greatest. It was a pretty sad day when there was a need, but no money stored up.

When you take the time to memorize a Bible verse, you’re intentionally storing it away for a future need. The more you fill up your memory bank the easier it’ll be to make a withdrawal.

Memorizing God’s Words helps us remember what He’s said even when we’re not near a Bible. Knowing His Word means it’s less likely we’ll question what God has said. We can use our internal hard drive to access God’s truth so we can handle temptation, share God’s truth anywhere, and remember the words when we need encouragement.

We don’t memorize to earn gold stars, but to develop a sense of awe who God is.

Dear God, You want me to store Your Words on the pages of my heart. Please help me make regular memory deposits filled with Your truth. Amen.
