1 Thessalonians 5
It’s suddenness (vv 1-11). Christ’s return is certain, but the day and the hour are not known, as Jesus said again and again (Matthew 24:36;42-43; 25:13; Mark 13:32-37; Luke 12:39, 46; 21:25-35). However, signs will precede His coming (Luke 21:25-35), so that patient believers may sense that it is near. But even those who are watching are warned to stay alert and self-controlled, lest they be caught off guard.

He did this by setting aside His prerogatives and privileges as a member of the Godhead, the Trinity, and becoming human. John describes the possibility of seeing the glory of God in Jesus (John 1:14), while Paul assures us that divine glory was joined to human particularity when Jesus took the form and nature of man- and a commoner at that.

When discussing the most devoted followers of Jesus’ the New Testament writers say far less about three of the apostles-Barholomew; James, son of Alphaeus; and Thaddaeus (likely the nickname for Judas, the son of James)-than they say about Mary Magdalene.
She was from Magdala, a small town in Galilee in northern Israel, And since Mary was such a popular name in the New Testament, people took to calling this particular Mary by her hometown.

Continue reading HOW CAN JESUS BE CONSIDERED SINLESS WHEN THE BIBLE DESCRIBES HIS ANGER?
All four Gospels describe Jesus clearing the money changers from the temple: none use the term “anger” as part of the description. We infer anger from the facts given and from the passion mentioned in John 2:17.
No one knows. Jesus’ reasons for delay are not explained here. We can only surmise that a higher purpose-higher than saving people from physical death-caused Jesus not to go with immediate haste to His friend’s side. That purpose was surely the one that Jesus had come to fulfill: saving people from spiritual death, that is, from eternal separation from His loving heavenly Father.
Though Lazarus was raised miraculously, he did die later. So did Mary and Martha, the disciples, and all of Jesus’ closet friends. Jesus did not come to spare His loved ones the experience of physical death but to show them the path to eternal life.
