Refraining from eating food. The Bible describes three main forms of fasting. The normal fast involves the total abstinence of foods. Luke 4:2 reveals that Jesus “ate nothing”; afterward “He was hungry.” Jesus abstained from food but not from water.

In Acts 9:9 we read of an absolute fast where for three days Paul “did not eat or drink” (HCSB). The abstinence form both food and water seems to have lasted no more than three days (Ezra 10:6; Esther 4:16). Continue reading DEFINITION OF THE DAY (FASTING) →

DOG – Considered an unclean animal; often wild, scavenger animal that ran in packs (Pss 22:16-22; 59:6) but sometimes kept as domestic pet. Dogs served as watchdogs for herds (Isa 56:10; Job 30:1) and for the dwelling (Exod 11:7). Some were training for hunting (Ps 22:16), but some ran stay in the streets (Exod 22:30; 1 Kings 14:11). People of Bible times wore inner tunics and outer robes that covered the entire body (read 1 Samuel 19:24 and 1 Kings 18:46). That’s a great question! One that many Christians haven’t much thought about! In fact, the vast majority of Christians have never even considered it, let alone done it.
That’s about to change for many of them!
The reason is because of a new reading program called “Through the Bible . . . as It Happened!” It re-arranges the Bible material into a chronological format. That means the events are re-arranged so the reader reads them in the order they occurred – much like a novel. The normal way the Bible is arranged is “themed.” That means the material is all put together according to subject, not according the when it happened.
