HAVING FAITH IN GOD

Faith in God is a fundamental aspect of many people’s lives. It is a belief in a higher power that provides comfort, strength, and hope in times of uncertainty and adversity. Faith is not just a religious concept, but a universal one that is shared by people from all walks of life. It is the foundation of spirituality and a means of finding meaning and purpose in life.

This belief can be reinforced through personal experiences and encounters, religious teachings, and traditions. For many, faith is a way of connecting with something greater than themselves, and it provides a sense of purpose and direction in life.

DEFINITION OF THE DAY (MUTENESS)

Inability to speak. In the OT muteness is traced to God (Exod 4:11). God made Ezekiel mute (Ezek 3:26) in response to Israel’s failure to listen to his message. Later He restored Ezekiel’s speech (24:27; 33:22) as a sign of the people’s receptiveness to hear. Daniel became speechless in response to the appearance of a heavenly messenger (Dan 10:15).

WHY DOES GOD SEEM SO FRIGHTENING?

The psalmist has an extremely high view of God’s ability to respond mightily to the believer’s plea for help. He uses poetic language to describe the indescribable-God’s almighty power. God sounds frightening because He is. When God acts to help someone prevail over injustice, the energy God expends will be much more frightening than the victim’s adversary.

WHY “SON OF MAN”?

Triumph-of-Christianity-Gustave-Dore

God addressed Ezekiel with an unusual title which will later become Jesus’ favorite way of referring to himself. The title is “son of man.” In the original Hebrew language, it’s literally ben Adam or “son of Adam” since Adam means “humans.” Continue reading WHY “SON OF MAN”?

A BAPTISM OF THE NEW TESTAMENT

 32501_all_015_01-Baptism

It is interesting to go back in time to see the church in its primitive state. . .when the Spirit was still directly instructing Christians on how God wanted religion practiced.

One of the most detailed cases of conversion is the Ethiopian whom Philip taught while traveling down a lonely back road (Acts 8:26-40). This treasurer requested baptism, and Philip conducted his baptism in the way God approves.
