SCRIPTURES OF THE DAY (GALATIANS 5:1-12 “FREEDOM IN CHIRST”)

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

DEFINITION OF THE DAY (GOVERNMENT “THE NATURE AND CALLING OF MAN”)

The fundamental truth about government in the Bible’s worldview and metanarrative is that the one triune God revealed in the Scriptures of the OT and NT is the sovereign ruler from which all authority flows. Whatever man and human governments are, they are not to be confused with god(s)-though some may make claims to that effect. On the other hand, they are not mere usurpers upon the creation. Man is the pinnacle of God’s creation. The psalmist, echoed by the writer of Hebrews in the NT, marveled poetically that God was “mindful” of man at all (Ps 8:4-6 NIV; Heb 2:6-8 KJV); but Scripture affirms human dominion over the earth (Gen 1:28-30; Psa 8:6-8; 115:16).

HOW CAN SALVATION BE CALLED A FREE GIFT?

“There’s no free lunch” speaks to the truth that things that might appear to have no cost often carry a huge price tag. Indeed, that proverb describes salvation, too. To the recipient, the gift of salvation is free. People cannot buy any element of salvation. No amount of good living, candle burning, charitable giving, or caregiving can contribute even a fraction to the cost.

SCRITPURES OF THE DAY (MATTHEW 9:1-8 “JESUS FORGIVES AND HEALS A PARALYTIC”)

And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.

And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

HOW CAN JESUS BE CONSIDERED SINLESS WHEN THE BIBLE DESCRIBES HIS ANGER?

All four Gospels describe Jesus clearing the money changers form the temple; none use the term “anger” as part of the description. We infer anger from the facts given and from the passion mentioned in John 2:17.

A LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT (HEROD AGRIPPA I)

The grandson of Herod the Great, Herod Agrippa is best known for being the first to execute one of Jesus’ disciples. “He had the apostle James (John’s brother) killed with a sword. When Herod saw much this pleased the Jewish leaders, he arrested Peter” (Acts 12:2-3). An angel freed Peter.

WHY WOULD EZEKIEL-OR ANYBODY-SPEAK TRUTH TO STUBBORN PEOPLE WHO REFUSE TO LISTEN?

God call on Ezekiel’s life and the task given him was based on who God was an God’s hatred of sin. Ezekiel experienced God firsthand, taking in His Word (he ate the scroll given him God) so completely that it was a part of him.

DEFINITION OF THE DAY (IGNORANCE)

Old Testament law distinguished between sins of ignorance, or sin unintentionally (Lev 4:2, 13-14; Num 15:24-29), and premeditated sins (“sin presumptuously” or with a high hand, Num. 15:30-31). Sins committed in ignorance incur guilt (Lev 4:13,22,27); however, the sacrificial system provided atonement for such sin (Lev 4; 5:5-6). In contrast, “high-handed” or “presumptuous” sin is an affront to the Lord punishable by exclusion from the people of God. The Law provided no ritual cleansing for such sin (Num 15:30-31).

BIBLE BOOK OF THE DAY (ZECHARIAH)

Most other Bible prophets lived before God punished the Jews by exiling them to Assyria and Babylon, in what is now Iraq. So those earlier prophets warned the Jews where they were headed if they didn’t stop sinning. But even those prophets offered hope, promising that God would bring the Jews home one day.
