DOES GOD “PUT DOWN” CERTAIN NATIONS?

Yes, God decides to prosper some nations (Old Testament Israel most dramatically) at the expense of neighboring nations (three are mentioned in this psalm). As land is limited, when God gives land to Israel, it must come at someone’s expense. In this case, Canaanite fiefdoms “lose.” in that sense, some nations are put down.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY (LUKE 11:17-24)

17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.

18 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY (2 CORINTHIANS 12:7-10 “THE THORN IN THE FLESH”)

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY (MATTHEW 10:26-31 “FEAR GOD”)

26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

BIBLE CUSTOMS & CURIOSITIES (HELPLESS PAGAN GODS)

One of Isaiah’s favorite themes was that the pagan gods of his time were powerless, while Yahweh, the supreme God of the Israelites, was all-powerful. Here the prophet portrayed two gods of the Assyrians and Babylonians as so weak and helpless that they had to be carried around by oxen and horses.

UNDERSTANDING MARK 1:12-13 SATAN TEMPTS JESUS

1:12-13 The same Spirit who descended on Jesus at His baptism now drove Him into the wilderness. “Drove” is an strong term used for the driving out of demons (vs 34,39; 3:15,22,23;6:13; 7:26; 9:18,28,38) and other forced expulsions (5:40; 9:47; 12:8). In the

DEFINITION OF THE DAY (ARCHANGEL)

Chief or first angel. The English term “archangel” is a derivative of the Greek word archangelos, which occurs only twice in the NT.

Only one archangel is named in the Bible, though it is possible that there are others. In jude’s letter the archangel Michael is depicted as disputing with Satan over the body of Moses (Jude 9). In the tenth chapter of the book of Daniel, this same Michael is described as one of the chief princes. This may imply that other chief princes (archangels) exist. Jewish apocalyptic literature of the postexilic period describes seven archangels who stand in the presence of God: Suruel, Raphael, Raguel, Michael, Gabriel, Remiel, and Uriel (Tobit 12:15; 1 Enoch 20:1-7; 9:1; 40:9 “These are scriptures from the apocrypha and it’s mentioned for your educational purpose ONLY! UNDERSTANDING LUKE 11:1-4

LUKE 11:1-4 This model prayer for Jesus’ disciples is similar to the one in the Sermon on the Mount (Mt 6:9-13), but much shorter. Apparently, the disciples were motivated to learn to pray by both Jesus’ example and that of John the Baptist and his disciples. It was unusual for Jews to refer to God as Father. Such an address would seem too personal and familiar. Even though Luke emphasized the offer of the kingdom of God (4:43) and the nearness of the kingdom in
