One of the remarkable institutions of Bible times was the Jewish legal system. It was quite different from anything that existed in any contemporary society of the time. There was no written law in Egypt at all, and the legal systems of Babylon and other nations were not documents to which judicial reference was made but rather were collections of the King’s judgment for the use of the people. Judgment was the action of the king who not only made the law but actually was the law.

IS IT EVER OKAY TO LIE?

To be entirely and blatantly truthful in everything we say could unnecessarily hurt a lot of feelings and create a lot of worries. Thus, in everyday conversation we say “white lies” about someone’s appearance or even about our own state of health.

A LITTLE KNOWN FACT ABOUT (SHILOH)

Jerusalem was not Israel’s first capital. Shiloh was-for at least a century.

A high plains village nearly half a mile above sea level and thirty miles north of Jerusalem, in Israel’s hill country, Shiloh was where Joshua and the Israelites pitched the tent of God, or the worship center called the tabernacle. This is where the Israelites came to offer sacrifices to God and to celebrate religious holidays.

DEFINITION OF THE DAY (NAMES OF GOD)

The name of God holds an important key to understanding the doctrine of God and the doctrine of revelation. The name of God is a personal disclosure and reveals His relationship with His people. His name is known only because He chooses to make it known. To the Hebrew mind God was both hidden and revealed, transcendent and immanent.
