Generic term applied to a variety of skin disorders from psoriasis to true leprosy. Its symptoms ranged from white patches on the skin to running sores to the loss of digits on the fingers and toes.

Lord, help me believe that You are the way, the truth, and the life, My heart yearns for the power of Your presence. Never let me doubt Your love and mercy, but strengthen me to tell others of Your saving grace and never-ending love. May Your Spirit direct my path daily and strengthen my commitment to Your purpose. For without You, I am nothing. But with You, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). Praise God. In Jesus name. Amen. SLOTHFUL-Loose, undisciplined, Hebrew term can refer to a bow not strung or equipped with an arrow for action (Ps 78:57; Hos 7:16). A similar or related Hebrew root describes a loose tongue or mind as deceitful (Job 13:7; 27:4; Pss 32:2; 52:4; Mic 6:12). The slothful person cannot lead but becomes subjected to another’s rule (Prov 12:24; 10:4; 19:15). God’s work must not be done in such a spirit (Jer 48:10). MEN OF THE BIBLE (THE PHILIPPIAN JAILER: FINDING SALVATION)

The jailer at Philippi was sleeping soundly while Paul and Silas sang praises to God at midnight. But God caused an earthquake that left him wide awake and terrified. All the locked prison doors swung open and all the prisoners were freed of their constraints. Since his own blood would be shed if they escaped, he probably saw his life flash before his eyes.
