LITTLE KNOWN FACTS ABOUT (HOW BIG WAS THE ARK)

Noah’s ark was a little longer than a football field (end zones included) and half as wide. Surprisingly, the space inside the ark equaled the storage space of about 370 railroad boxcars.

Ark dimensions: 150 yards long, 25 yards wide, and 15 yards high. A typical cruise ship today would dwarf it, since the ark was only about half the size.

This verse uses humor to show that no house is big enough to accommodate two people who don’t get along. If the husband and wife are always quarreling, each one could say with equal justification to the other, “I would rather be living up on the roof than in this house with you.”

GOING TRHOUGH THE ROOF

This verse shows the determination of the friends of a disable man to get him to Jesus for healing. They brought their friends in a blanket or pallet to the house where Jesus was teaching. Unable to get into the building because of the crowd, they climbed an exterior stairway to the roof. After ripping a hole in the roof, they lowered him down to Jesus. A similar or related Hebrew root describes a loose tongue or mind as deceitful (Job 13:7; 27:4; Pss 32:2; 52:4; Mic 6:12). The slothful person cannot lead but becomes subjected to another’s rule (Prov 12:24; 10:4; 19:15). God’s work must not be done in such a spirit (Jer 48:10). David was one of the greatest heroes of the Bible and a man after God’s heart. But, let’s face it, when he had a man killed so he could take his wife, he failed big time.
