THE ATTRIBUTES OF GOD.

The attributes of God refer to the characteristics or qualities that are inherent in the nature of God. These attributes help us to understand God’s nature and character. While there are many attributes of God, some of the most important include his omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence, love, and justice.

Omniscience refers to God’s all-knowing nature. God knows everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen in the future. This attribute is seen throughout the Bible, such as in Psalm 139:1-6 where the psalmist acknowledges that God knows every thought and action before it even occurs. This attribute also underscores God’s ability to understand and comprehend all things.

SHOULD WOMEN TODAY CULTIVATE THE TRADITIONAL KINDS OF BEHAVIORS HONORED IN THE PROVERBS?

The Bible is sometimes accused of supporting a patriarchal culture and a husband-dominated home. Nothing could be further from the spirit and tone of these proverbs. Here, women lead in smart financial that elusive but nonetheless universally celebrated quality of sexual attractiveness. this ideal wife cares about her family, has a variety of specialized skills to put to the service of people around her, and is not captured by false images of beauty her culture puts forward as the norm. Beauty, in fact, goes much deeper than cosmetics and body shape, this proverb notes well.

MANNERS & CUSTOMS OF THE BIBLE (LIGHTING)

Lighting for houses was provided by the oil lamp. Originally this consisted of an open earthenware saucer containing olive oil. Part of the saucer was “pinched” in manufacture, so as to provide a place for a flaxen wick. Such lamps obviously had problems arising from spillage, and closed containers were therefore developed with two holes-one for wick and one to put oil in.
