During Paul’s first missionary journey, he and Barnabas visited the city of Lystra in the province of Lycaonia. After Paul preached the gospel to the people of the city, he healed a crippled man. They were so impressed that they hailed the missionaries as pagan gods who had come down to them “in the likeness of men” (Acts 14:11).

WHY WERE INNOCENT WOMEN AND CHILDREN KILLED IN BATTLE AGAINST THE MIDIANITES?

The sentence of death in this case was not against age and gender, but against disloyalty and betrayal of the true God. Groups that had participated in baiting Israel toward religious diversity (Israel’s paramount stumbling blocks) received the captial sentence, while groups that had not (prepubescent femalse in this case) were spared.
