THE CENSUS FOLLOWED HARVEST SEASON, NOT WINTER (PT 15 OF JESUS CHRIST BIRTHDAY IS NOT DECEMBER 25TH)

The census recorded at the time of Jesus’ birth was not an arbitrary event, nor was it conducted during the harsh conditions of winter. Scripture, historical practice, and practical realities all indicate that Roman censuses were organized around times when travel was safest and when people had the means to pay taxes most commonly after harvest season. This timing directly challenges the idea that Jesus was born on December 25th.

WHAT IS BELIEF?

Faith refers to (1) the exercise of our capacity to trust someone or something, as, for example, a rock climber has faith in his or her rope; (2) a set of beliefs, such as “Catholic faith”; (3) a deeper, very personal movement of the heart toward God that includes the first two meanings, yet moves beyond them into personal fellowship with God.
