SHEPHERDS WERE WATCHING LAMBING FLOCKS (PT 14 OF JESUS CHRIST BIRTHDAY IS NOT DECEMBER 25TH)

The Gospel of Luke gives a quiet but powerful detail surrounding the night of Jesus’ birth: shepherds were in the fields, watching over their flocks by night. This small statement carries significant meaning when examined through Scripture and historical shepherding practices in Judea. The timing of lambing seasons, combined with biblical context, strongly suggests that Jesus was not born in the dead of winter, but during a season when shepherds would actively be tending lambing flocks most commonly in the spring or early fall.

The Angels Announced Peace: A Message That Reflects the Themes of the Fall Feasts (PT12)

The announcement of Jesus’ birth by the heavenly host is one of the most beautiful moments recorded in Scripture. As the angel appeared to the shepherds, and as the sky filled with a multitude from heaven, their message centered on peace, joy, and God dwelling among His people. These themes strongly connect to the Fall Feasts particularly the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles offering a rich biblical context for understanding the season of Jesus’ birth.

Jesus “Tabernacled” Among Us: A Strong Connection to the Feast of Tabernacles

The birth of Jesus carries deep prophetic meaning, and one of the most powerful Scriptural clues about the timing of His birth is found in the statement that the Word “dwelt” among us. John’s Gospel does not simply say Jesus lived among humanity but uses a very specific term that connects directly to the Feast of Tabernacles, a joyful fall festival that celebrated God dwelling with His people.

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY (JUDE 1:1-25)

Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:

Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Jesus’ Conception Was Six Months After John’s (PT:10 of Jesus Christ birthday is NOT on December 25th)

The timeline of Jesus’ conception is closely connected to the miraculous conception of John the Baptist. Scripture carefully records the order of events, allowing us to understand that Jesus was conceived six months after Elizabeth conceived John. This divinely ordered sequence is not only important historically but also theologically, showing how God prepared the forerunner before sending the Messiah.

Now these are the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron; Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest’s office.

And David distributed them, both Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their offices in their service.

Zechariah’s Priestly Course and Why It Points to a June Service Period

Understanding the timing of Jesus’ birth begins long before Mary conceived. The story actually starts with Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist. Scripture tells us that Zechariah was a priest “of the course of Abijah” (Luke 1:5), a detail that may seem minor but is actually a key to understanding the seasonal timeline of the births of both John and Jesus. By studying the priestly courses established in the Old Testament, we discover that Zechariah’s service in the Temple took place around June, creating a clear chronological foundation for the biblical nativity timeline.

SCRIPTUE OF THE DAY (JEREMIAH 5:1-31)

Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.

And though they say, The Lord liveth; surely they swear falsely.

O Lord, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

WHERE DID MORAL RULES COME FROM

For Adam and Eve to live as full human beings, they would need to obey God. That would require moral limitations, boundaries that they would carefully observe and not trespass, as a sign of obedience. God applied one restriction on their use of creation- one tree whose fruit they could not eat. It was that same tree, of course, that provided the proverbial apple that has gone down in history-the agonizing first taste of human sinfulness.
