When the Babylonian army captured and plundered the city of Jerusalem, King Nebuchadnezzar seized the golden utensils, spices, jewels, and other valuable items that
belonged to the Jewish temple. He carried these valuables to Babylon, where he deposited them in the treasure house of a temple devoted to the worship of a pagan Babylonian god.
This fulfilled is a prophecy that Isaiah had issued to the people of Judah about one hundred years before: “The days come, that all. . . which thy fathers have laid up in store. . .shall be carried to Babylon” (Isaiah 39:6).
DANIEL 1:2 – He [King Nebuchadnezzar] brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.
