In recent times, there has been growing concern over individuals who publicly claim to be Christians yet engage in disruptive, mocking, or harassing behavior toward monks and those living devoted lives of prayer and discipline. While these individuals may use the name of Christ, Scripture makes it clear: claiming Christ with words while denying Him through actions is not true Christianity.
1. Christianity Is Known by Fruit, Not Labels
Jesus never said His followers would be known by how loudly they argue or how aggressively they confront others. He said they would be known by their fruit.
“By their fruit you will recognize them.”
— Matthew 7:16
Harassment, ridicule, and disrespect are not fruits of the Spirit. They reflect pride and self-righteousness not the heart of Christ.
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
— Galatians 5:22–23
A person cannot claim Christ while consistently producing fruit that contradicts Him.
2. Jesus Condemned Religious Arrogance
Jesus’ harshest rebukes were not aimed at sinners seeking God, but at religious people who believed they were superior to others.
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!”
— Matthew 23:27
Those who harass monks under the banner of Christianity often operate from the same spirit exalting themselves while condemning others without understanding their devotion or calling.
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
— James 4:6
3. Scripture Commands Respect and Peace
Monastic life centers on prayer, discipline, humility, and separation from worldly chaos principles that Scripture repeatedly affirms.
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
— Psalm 46:10
“Pray without ceasing.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:17
To disturb those devoted to prayer is not boldness it is disobedience.
“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
— Romans 12:18
4. Jesus Warned Against Using His Name to Harm Others
Jesus clearly warned that not everyone who uses His name truly belongs to Him.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father.”
— Matthew 7:21
Using Christ’s name to harass, provoke, or dominate others is a misuse of His authority.
“They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny Him.”
— Titus 1:16
5. True Christianity Imitates Christ
Christ did not force, harass, or belittle. He invited, served, and loved even when rejected.
“The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.”
— Mark 10:45
“Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
— Matthew 5:44
If someone cannot show respect to devoted servants of God, how can they claim to reflect Christ?
6. God Values Quiet Devotion
Scripture honors those who seek God in humility and silence.
“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.”
— Matthew 6:6
Mocking or disturbing monks reveals ignorance of biblical spirituality, not faithfulness.
7. A Call to Self-Examination
The Bible calls believers to examine themselves before correcting others.
“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith.”
— 2 Corinthians 13:5
Those who harass others in the name of Christ must ask: Am I reflecting Jesus or my own pride?
Final Reflection
True Christianity is not loud, hostile, or self-exalting. It is humble, respectful, and rooted in love. Those who disturb, harass, or mock monks while claiming Christ are not defending the faith they are misrepresenting it.
“By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”
— John 13:35
Where love is absent, Christ is not present no matter how loudly His name is spoken.
