Wisdom’s Meal

Proverbs 9:2

She [wisdom] hath killed her beasts [prepared her meat, NIV]; she hath mingled [mixed, NIV] her wine; she hath also furnished [set, NIV] her table. 

     This verse portrays wisdom as preparing a meal that it invites people to eat. The message is that we can achieve wisdom and understanding if only we will partake of the wisdom that God has provided for His people.

The “mingled wine” or “mixed wine” was prepared by mixing two kinds of wine together-possibly an older, stronger wine with a weaker wine of more recent vintage.
