Matthew 14:24 says, “But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.”
Spiritually, the storm represents the troubles and hardships believers face in life. Storms can symbolize trials, suffering, fear, temptation, spiritual attacks, confusion, or seasons of uncertainty. Just as the disciples struggled against the waves, many people struggle against the pressures and problems of life.

Matthew 14:25 says, “And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.”

Matthew 14:30 says, “But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid.”
This reveals an important spiritual lesson. Fear grows when people focus more on problems than on God. Doubt weakens faith when believers allow circumstances to become greater in their minds than the power of Christ.
Yet Peter cried out, “Lord, save me.” Immediately Jesus stretched forth His hand and rescued him. This shows the mercy of Jesus toward those who struggle. Even when faith becomes weak, Christ is still willing to save those who call upon Him.
Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
