WHY DOES PAUL URGE THE USE OF ALCOHOLIC DRINK? (1 Timothy 5:23)

alcoholDrink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities. (from the original HOLY BIBLE)

(By the way, this doesn’t mean you should completely give up drinking wine, You ought to take a little sometimes as medicine for your stomach because you are sick so often) (from the KIDS APPLICATION BIBLE)

“A little wine” for the sake of settling a prolonged health condition is no violation of biblical directives concerning drunkerneess.Paul was not affected by the modern notion that all alcoholic drink is wrong and must be studiously avoided. Rather , Paul avoided the misuse of wine, but like any other food substance, he understood its proper use as well.  Gluttony in any form is unhealthy and morally wrong because it spoils the body and weakens the individual. Moderate use of wine is no violation of Christian standards in Paul’s eyes.
